Abiola Bello is an award-winning author and was born and raised in London, where she still lives and works. She wrote her first novel at the age of eight and she first began writing the Emily Knight saga at 12 years old with the intention of filling the gaping hole in children’s fiction for an inspirational, strong, young female protagonist.
Abiola received rave reviews for her debut book Emily Knight I am..., as well as outstanding success with her Emily Knight Warriors pop-up book, which went viral in 2015 when it was gradually released online throughout the month of August. The second book Emily Knight I am...Awakened
was a finalist for 'Best Children's Book' for The People's Book Prize 2019, nominated for the Carnegie Award 2019 and winner of London's Big Read 2019. The third book Emily Knight I am...Becoming was released September 2020 to strong reviews.
Abiola is signed to The Bent Agency.
She is the founder of The Lil' Author School and co-founder of The Author School, Hashtag Press, Hashtag BLAK, The Diverse Book Awards and ink!
Abiola won The London Book Fair Trailblazer Awards 2018 and is regularly called to talk at literary events and within the media, and has appeared in Cosmopolitan Magazine, Shout Magazine, The Mirror, BBC1XTRA to name a few.
As well as being a writer, Abiola was a professional dancer. She has performed for more than a decade in prestigious venues including The Royal Opera House, The Barbican, Sadler’s Wells, Hammersmith Apollo, Stratford Theatre Royal. A. Bello has also appeared on The Apprentice, Got To Dance and Street Dance AllStars The Movie.
