Helen Matthews is the author of suspense thriller After Leaving the Village, which won first prize at Winchester Writers’ Festival, and Lies Behind the Ruin, published by Hashtag Press. Born in Cardiff, she read English at the University of Liverpool. She has worked in international development, consultancy, human resources and pensions management but fled corporate life to pursue her dream of becoming a writer. She holds an MA in Creative Writing from Oxford Brookes University.
As a freelancer, she writes content for websites and business magazines and has, in the past, had columns published in The Guardian and broadcast on BBC radio. Helen’s stories and flash fiction have been published or shortlisted in Reflex Fiction, 1000k Story, Artificium, Scribble and Love Sunday.
She is an Ambassador for the charity, Unseen, which works towards a world without slavery.
